Senior Web Content Coordinator (#SRWBCOGENS) GENS

Performs advanced skilled creative and technical work involved in writing, editing, and maintaining site standards for new development.  Works with web providers, graphic designers and developers for web pages and websites.  Exercises team leadership and coordination responsibility with internal staff and external clients and vendors.


A Bachelor's degree of Arts in English, Mass Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Information Architecture, and Five years of experience with high traffic websites and creating content within a enterprise level web content management systems.

The competencies required of positions in this job classification are a mix of public relations, journalism, copywriting, marketing, and content development. Depending on the specific position, successful employees in this job classification would require:  

  • Considerable knowledge of web issues to include; copyright, privacy, accessibility and useability.        
  • Experience with HTML and working knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practices.        
  • Knowledge of basic business software, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite and web management software.       
  • Expert knowledge of basic mobile applications software on tablet computers and smartphones.        
  • Excellent web content writing skills.   
  • Skill in producing accurate and detailed reproduction of requested graphics. ·       
  • Extensive research and grammer skills.
  • Strong presentation skills for web training.     
  • Basic Adobe Photoshop skills and computer skills for software applications.
  • Ability to write web content for targeted audiences.        
  • Ability to to self direct work, understand instructions and deliver work that complies with established guidelines.       
  • Ability to help supervise junior content coordinators.      
  • Ability to proritize and mulitask.      
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.          
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

Leads projects on web content creation and helps supervise the work of junior content coordinators.  Formulates comprehensive project plans and strategies pertaining to developing and improving web-based content for all websites.

Work closely with departments and agencies to educate and train web content providers on developing content strategies, proper content creation and content maintenance.

Help manage web compaign projects, including production of specific web marketing pieces, and demonstrate the ability to keep intradepartmental teams on target with established project goals and deadlines.  Conducts pertinent statistical research and strategy analysis within the areas of digital content and communications to promote a positive informative relationship between county government and online constituents.

Develop content for digital outreach and online outreach campaigns to include enewletters, web blogs and other social media.

Maintain quality checks on multiple aspects of web projects to ensure professional standards and best practices are employed.  Review online content on an ongoing basic and provide recommendations to department and agencies to improve their web content offerings.

Represent the department/agency at meetings, functions and events.
