Leads the architecture and design of complex enterprise level hardware and software platforms associated with network servers, internet systems, storage systems, and backup systems. Provides senior level escalated technical support, conducts technology research, and manages assigned enterprise level technology projects.



A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an information technology field; and
Two years of experience providing network account management, monitoring, maintenance, and support of complex and diverse information systems infrastructure hardware and software.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted.

  • Advanced knowledge of industry standards, characteristics, and features associated with network server platforms running Windows and Linux operating systems, server based applications, network storage systems, enterprise level backup systems, desktop operating systems, end-user applications, industry standard office productivity software suites, desktop management software, personal computers, peripheral devices, end-user devices, and data network infrastructure & connectivity.
  • Advanced knowledge of designing, installing, managing, supporting, upgrading Microsoft Windows server and RedHat Linux operating systems, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft System Center, shared Storage Area Network (SAN) systems, enterprise disk based & tape backup systems, industry backup methodology/processes, enterprise level server/personal computer patching methodology, and enterprise level virtualization technologies for servers & remote access virtual desktop infrastructure.
  • Advanced knowledge of designing, installing, managing, supporting, upgrading Internet infrastructure including Web Services, Web filtering, Spam filtering, DNS, and Web related protocols including TCP/IP, FTP, HTTP and HTTPS, LDAP.
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Active directory for server management and troubleshooting server operating systems, server applications and user authentications.
  • Knowledge of project methodology to manage complex enterprise technology projects and the ability to develop, review and edit technical project documentation as well as other technical reports & documentation including architecture design documents and network diagrams.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and provide superior customer service to end-users, and communicate (both verbally and in writing) to end-users, vendors, management, and peers.
  • Ability to plan and organize work assignments and lead and review the work of  others.
  • Ability to lift end-user hardware up to 30 pounds.


  • Reviews technology requirements, makes recommendations, and designs technical architecture solutions to meet requirements.  Designs, plans and implements advance technology systems for new computing infrastructure and system hardware/software upgrades.
  • Performs as Project Manager for enterprise technology projects and performs as Team Leader for routine system administration duties of System Administrators.
  • Performs installation, setup, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and remedial maintenance for networked Windows Servers, RedHat Linux servers, Internet systems, Storage Area Network (SAN) systems, and backup systems.
  • Provides senior level technical support for System Administrators, PC Administrators, and escalated complex computer hardware, software and end user application issues.
  • Provides technical training to other IT technical support staff on new hardware and software to enhance their knowledge and capabilities.
  • Analyzes and anticipates growth needs of systems with management tools to ensure they are compatible with current systems.
  • Reads computer hardware and software product literature and specifications, evaluates utilities, assists users, PC Administrators, and Systems Administrators in testing new hardware and software before deploying.
  • Prepares technical documentation including architecture design documents, network diagrams, and technical reports.
  • May drive a vehicle to remote locations to deliver, pickup, install and/or troubleshoot equipment problems.
