JOB OVERVIEW

Performs duties supervising the activities of a large centralized storeroom or warehouse including responsibility for the procurement of inventory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Five years of experience in receiving and issuing equipment or supplies.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.

  • Considerable knowledge of storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures.

  • Ability to manage the operations of a large storeroom or warehouse.
  • Ability to conduct inventory studies of materials and supplies and keep related records.
  • Ability to operate a computer and related software.
  • Ability to operate appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with others within and outside the organization.
  • Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Supervises all activities of a large storeroom or warehouse to include storage, control, and issuance of materials and equipment.
  • Ensures that all necessary tools, supplies, materials and equipment are available for the efficient and timely use by organizational units.
  • Creates requisitions, obtains quotes for prices from suppliers or vendors, and completes the purchase of storeroom/warehouse inventory and supplies.
  • Prepares purchasing documents and processes records to account for the disbursement of funds.
  • Participates in the development of storeroom or warehouse policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Researches, records and maintains pertinent data as to nomenclature, supply and inventory of equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Institutes proper security controls to safeguard the facility against burglary, theft and pilferage.
  • Maintains records and files.
  • Assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of subordinate staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
