Senior Planning/Zoning Technician (#SRPZTHGENM) GENM
$17.23-$27.35 Hourly / $2,986.53-$4,740.67 Monthly / $35,838.40-$56,888.00 Yearly


Performs lead worker duties reviewing documents and collecting related information to ensure compliance with applicable land development codes, regulations, and comprehensive plans.


Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Three years of public contact experience involving zoning, planning, engineering, real estate, or legal matters; and
Possession of a valid Driver License.
An Associate's or higher degree from an accredited college or university; and
Two years of public contact experience involving planning, engineering, real estate, or legal matters; and
Possession of a valid Driver License.

  • Researches issues involving community planning, property ownership, zoning history, land use, real estate documents, and comprehensive plans.
  • Inspects sites and reviews background information relating to rezoning or development petitions and requests.
  • Interprets various land use related codes, rules, regulations, policies, ordinances, and laws.
  • Functions as a lead worker in the research, reviewing, and coordination of land use and planning matters.
  • Prepares materials for and attends public meetings, workshops and hearings.
  • Receives complaints and coordinates actions required to follow up and reconcile such complaints.
  • Assists in developing and modifying office procedures to meet changing conditions.
  • Reviews land use permit applications to ensure compliance with County ordinances and Regulations, and Comprehensive Plans.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Attain certification as a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) within the first six months of the probationary period.  The probationary period may be extended by the Appointing Authority to which the position is assigned.
