JOB OVERVIEW

Leads in the design and architecture of enterprise level, complex and diverse hardware and software platforms associated with enterprise routing and switching environments, and/or virtual private networking (VPN), and/or enterprise firewalls, and/or Voice over IP (VoIP) connectivity, and/or 802.11x wireless networking, and/or local area networks (LAN). Provides senior level escalated technical support, conducts technology research, and manages assigned enterprise level technology projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or related field; and
Three years of experience providing support, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of complex and diverse information systems hardware and software.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of complex networking and/or other information technology systems.
  • Knowledge of designing, installing, managing, supporting, and upgrading complex networking and/or other information technology systems.
  • Knowledge of project methodology to manage complex enterprise technology projects.
  • Knowledge of project methodology to manage complex enterprise technology projects.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues associated with data network infrastructure, networked systems, network protocols, circuits, and/or VoIP infrastructure. 
  • Ability to develop, review and edit technical project documentation as well as other technical reports & documentation including architecture design documents and network diagrams.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and provide superior customer service to end-users, and effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) to end-users.
  • Ability to plan and organize work assignments and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lift end-user hardware up to 30 pounds.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Reviews technology requirements & growth needs, makes recommendations, and designs network and/or VoIP technical architecture solutions to meet requirements. 
  • Performs as Project Manager for enterprise technology projects and performs as team leader for routine system administration duties of Network Administrators.
  • Provides senior-level technical support for complex networking and/or other information technology systems.
  • Performs hardware and software upgrades on complex networking and/or other information technology systems.
  • Provides mentoring and technical training to Network Administrators on new hardware and software to enhance their knowledge and capabilities.
  • Stays current on complex networking and/or other information technology systems hardware and software product literature and specifications, evaluates utilities, assist clients, Network Administrators, and Systems Administrators in testing new hardware and software before implementation.
  • Prepares technical documentation including architecture design documents, network diagrams, and technical reports.
  • May drive a vehicle to remote locations to deliver, pickup, install and/or troubleshoot equipment problems.
