JOB OVERVIEW

Performs public housing eligibility and placement assistance duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university; and
Two years of professional level experience in social or community services which involved interviewing and counseling clients.

Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

  • Considerable knowledge of social and community services provided by public and private agencies.

  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Evaluates applicant's personal and financial data by reviewing files and related documents.
  • Informs applicants of Federal, State and County rules and regulations pertaining to housing program eligibility requirements.
  • Advises applicants on available housing alternatives, budget and debt management, real estate laws and contracts, mortgage servicing and insurance, relocation procedures, home maintenance and makes referrals to appropriate agencies for additional assistance.
  • Provides followup assistance to clients.
  • Resolves housing issues and complaints or refers clients to appropriate agency for resolution.
  • Makes group presentations of housing assistance programs.
  • Identifies specific client social services needs and contacts agencies for assistance.
  • Prepares and maintains case files and records.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
