JOB OVERVIEW

Performs duties involving utility service connections, minor repairs of metering equipment, field investigations and training new personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
One year of experience in a job involving daily public contact; and
One year of experience in a job involving meter reading; 

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below; and

Possession of a valid Driver License.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Establishes new services and disconnects existing services by installing and removing water meters or turning valves.
  • Responds to special requests to locate buried meters and pump flooded meter pits.
  • Investigates unusual meter readings, public complaints and violations of ordinances.
  • Assists in the printing and distribution of service orders.
  • Trains new personnel.
  • Performs vehicle inspections.
  • Maintains records of duties performed, vehicle usage and maintenance.
  • Maintains and updates maps, charts, and graphs.
  • Repairs minor leaks in water meters and connections; and repairs or replaces meter boxes.
  • Performs meter reading duties.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
