Senior Engineering Technician (#SRENGTGENN) GENN
$18.35-$29.13 Hourly / $3,180.67-$5,049.20 Monthly / $38,168.00-$60,590.40 Yearly


Performs and supervises difficult, complex, and technical paraprofessional engineering duties, or directs a large number of engineering technicians.


Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university with a major in Engineering; and
One year of experience in engineering support duties;

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

  • Knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of drafting and land surveying methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of public works construction practices, procedures, methods, specifications, materials and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, occupational hazards, and protective equipment.
  • Knowledge of project management, design, construction, and logistics management.
  • Knowledge of cartographic standards.
  • Knowledge of the use and calibration of engineering instruments.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and contract documents.
  • Ability to coordinate project activities with other agencies.
  • Ability to prepare and review construction designs, plans, specifications, legal descriptions, cost estimates, and bid documents.

  • Supervises the work of others by scheduling, assigning and reviewing work, providing training and counseling, and evaluating performance or directs and oversees a large team of engineering staff, contractors, and others involved in complex technical engineering work.
  • Schedules and supervises field surveys, organizes survey data, prepares survey reports and legal descriptions.
  • Designs, prepares and/or reviews plans, specifications, and cost estimates for moderately complex architectural construction projects.
  • Reviews design service and fee proposals for compliance with project requirements and budgets.
  • Attends preconstruction meetings to discuss proposed/existing projects and provide technical support.
  • Ensures plans, specifications and cost estimates comply with design contracts and other regulatory factors.
  • Creates, reviews, plots, updates, or edits maps.
  • Reviews and prepares final design work.
  • Provides information, technical advice and support to developers, engineers and the public.
  • Drafts or revises and updates new or existing plans and drawings.
  • Prepares information for bid packages.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
