JOB OVERVIEW

Performs a variety of specialized administrative, clerical and supervisory duties related to the processing and maintenance of legal and court records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Five years of clerical experience in processing, examining, preparing or reviewing of any type of legal document; and
One of those years as a supervisor.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Plans, assigns and schedules the work of clerical personnel.
  • Supervises and monitors the maintenance of court records including receiving and filing court papers, evidence and forfeitures; establishing court and other legal records of court trials and judgments; preparation and processing of appeals files; and the calculation, receipt and processing of court fees.
  • Trains subordinates and counsels them concerning work related problems.
  • Interprets department regulations, policies and procedures; implements new procedures and methods.
  • Maintains court calendars including the scheduling of court clerks for attendance at all sessions of the Circuit and County courts.
  • Compiles statistics and prepares monthly reports related to court proceedings; assists in the preparation of the department budget.
  • Serves as liaison between the department and other government offices.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
