JOB OVERVIEW

Performs advanced skilled creative and technical work involved in designing, illustrating, laying out, producing and reproducing a variety of graphic materials and displays with platform design applications.  Utilization of commercial art techniques and the ability to design and develop graphic material to illustrate programs, issues and ideas for publication, exhibition and technical use.  Exercises team leadership and coordination responsibility with internal staff and external clients and vendors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree of Arts in Graphic Design or Portfolio School; and
Four to Six years of experience as a designer/art director and extensive knowledge of the design process (concept to execution), print layout, typography, photography, video production.

an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

The competencies required of positions in this job classification are a mix of public relations, journalism, copywriting, marketing, and content development. Depending on the specific position, successful employees in this job classification would require:

 

·        Considerable knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

·        Experience with video and motion graphics.

·        Knowledge of basic business software, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite.

·        Expert knowledge in graphic production processes, print and digital.

·        Understanding of and experience in branding, layout, color theory and

       typography in both print and digital media.

·        Skill in producing accurate and detailed reproduction of requested graphics.

·        Skill in the development and application of design in creating theme

      development, brand identity a unifying content across various media types,

      (print, web, video).

·        Skill in photography and video.

·        Ability to communicate strong conceptual ideas, high level sense of design,

      layout and typography, and who is able to offer a variety of creative solutions.

·        Ability to work independently on strategic issues with client, capable of

      managing fairly complex projects.

·        Ability to transform verbal and printed information into creative executions.

·        Ability to meet critical deadlines.

·        Ability to organize information into a logical presentation format.

·        Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

·        Provides design leadership on projects and supervises staff in creating 

      concepts, comps, layouts and final art.

·        Develop creative solutions and then translate those solutions through a variety 

      of channels.

·        Creates designs and completes graphics work necessary for the preparation of

       assigned projects for display or reproduction including publication covers,

       brochures, pamphlets, signs, slides, emblems, charts, graphs, maps,

       letterheads, certificates, and forms.

·        Creates graphics for the Hillsborough television website to ensure that

       programming data is current and to inform citizens of upcoming events.

·        Designs, creates and updates computer graphics and artwork for various

       television purposes, including videotext bulletin board that is displayed

       between television programs.

 ·        Provide project management for an entire marketing campaign, not just

       the production of specific pieces, and demonstrate an ability to keep staff

       within established deadlines.

·        Confers with department representatives to determine job requirements, budget, 

       concept/design of job, and review of work performed. 

·        Communicate with internal business partners as needed on the development 

       of marketing communications (print and digital) pieces to ensure that a

       creative theme is included throughout all projects. 

·        Maintain quality inspections on all graphic projects to ensure professional

       standards and best practices are employed.

·        Performs other related duties as required.
