JOB OVERVIEW

Manages multi-component projects of significant size. These projects are characterized as having a project value in excess of $50 million and crosses multiple business units, departments or agencies. The projects managed have a high degree of political sensitivity and visibility and have a high level of impact and risk at the Agency or County level.    

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university; and

Six years of project/program management experience directly related to the position duties.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Performs project management work by providing project direction, planning and leadership to implement complex multi-component projects.
  • Defines project goals, quality standards and timelines.
  • Plans and directs all project activities throughout the project's lifecycle and implementation.
  • Determines funding requirements, prepares budget documents, monitors status of allocated funds and controls expenses.
  • Determines project staffing needs and acts to ensure appropriate staffing to complete project objectives.
  • Leads project teams and facilitates the communication and interaction among functional representatives.
  • Establishes communication and coordination plan across business units, departments and agencies.
  • May provide oversight for projects managed by others and may lead lower level project managers and staff in the accomplishment of project activities.
  • May serve on a variety of committees, task forces and teams as the departmental and/or County representative.
  • Develops project management methodologies and project management tools to enhance project effectiveness.
  • Prepares executive dashboards and presents milestones and progress reports to Senior Management and/or Executive Team.
  • Interacts with governmental branches and regulatory agencies as required to ensure that projects comply with all applicable legal requirements and regulations.
  • Determine how project results will be measured and completes a post project evaluation.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
