Planning/Zoning Technician I (#PGZTC1PCMI) PCMI
$14.47-$25.02 Hourly / $2,508.13-$4,336.80 Monthly / $30,097.60-$52,041.60 Yearly


Performs routine duties reviewing documents and collecting information to assist the professional planning staff with land use projects and to ensure compliance with applicable land development codes and regulations.


An Associate's or higher degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Geography, Urban or Regional Planning, Mathematics, Computer Science or Management Information Systems; and
Possession of valid Driver License.

  • Considerable knowledge of computerized cartographic/mapping hardware and software, mapping symbols, standards and terminology

  • Gathers information to assist in the preparation of studies and reports related to land use land use development and other planning projects.
  • Prepares and maintains maps, charts and other related graphic materials.
  • Researches, acquires, organizes and performs basic analysis of data for use in reports, maps and legal instruments.
  • Creates, updates and digitizes GIS layers to maintain an accurate geodatabase to ensure accuracy and produce hard copies of maps.
  • Assists in manual and/or digital organization, inventorying and locating maps to ensure accessibility.
  • Prepares and maintains graphic materials to support planning projects, and land use issues.
  • Inspects sites and reviews background information relating to land use applications and the County's Comprehensive Plans.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
