Prof Engineer II (#PE2EPCU) EPCU
$30.84-$50.44 Hourly / $5,345.60-$8,742.93 Monthly / $64,147.20-$104,915.20 Yearly


Performs licensed professional engineering work as the team lead for a small team or supervisory level involving the planning, project management and development, design, construction, maintenance and operation of public works projects and/or facilities.


Registration in the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer; and
Three years of post-registration experience as a Professional Engineer.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices for assigned functional area.
  • Knowledge of large and/or complex public works and facilities construction project management methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of computer modeling and computer aided drafting and mapping software and applications.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances, and other professional sources of information pertaining to public infrastructures, building and zoning codes, environmental permitting and real estate.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of land surveying.
  • Knowledge of County comprehensive planning, capital improvement projects and growth projections.
  • Knowledge of field testing, sampling and investigative techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and utilize computer applications for engineering modeling, design, drafting, and mapping.
  • ¬†Ability to manage, train, schedule, assign, monitor, review, and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply engineering, scientific and technical principles and methods to plan, formulate and carry out programs and policies.
  • Ability to write complex technical reports.

  • Manages and is responsible for one or more phases of large public works or developer projects.
  • Manages the capital improvement program (CIP) award and procurement.
  • Signs and seals engineering documents.
  • Manages public works and/or developer project closeout activities.
  • Oversees a public works project/program.
  • Provides expert testimony in the environmental permitting appeal process.
  • Conducts pre-bid/preconstruction conferences and other meetings as required.
  • Recommends staffing requirements and budgets.
  • Supervises the work of professional and technical subordinate staff by scheduling, assigning and reviewing work, providing training and counseling, and evaluating performance.
  • Evaluates bids for consultant performance.
  • Develops large and complex project goals, objectives, strategies, policies, procedures and budgets.
  • Independently approves and negotiates ¬†development activities and conditions with engineers and developers.
  • Serves as expert advisor on construction projects to technicians and engineers on complex design/construction problems.¬†
  • Performs other related duties as required.
