JOB OVERVIEW

Installs, configures, and supports diverse end-user information technology hardware and software including personal computing devices, peripheral devices and office productivity software applications. Provides technical assistance to the end-user community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an information technology field; and

 

Two years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting diverse information technology systems including personal computing devices, peripherals, and office productivity software applications.

 

Or any combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of industry standards, characteristics, and features associated with personal computing hardware, peripheral devices, and computer network connectivity infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the functionality and capabilities of end-user industry standard operating systems, office productivity software suites, and desktop management software.
  • Knowledge of enterprise application deployment technologies and methods.
  • Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot end-user hardware and software products.
  • Ability to work and communicate (both verbally and in writing) effectively with others and provide superior customer service to end-users, vendors, management, and peers.
  • Ability to develop, review and edit technical documentation.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work assignments.
  • Ability to lift end-user hardware up to 30 pounds.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Performs installation, setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and remedial maintenance for personal computing devices, peripheral hardware, operating systems, industry-standard office productivity software suites, end user applications, desktop management software, and antivirus remediation of virus infections.
  • Performs network connectivity troubleshooting for end-user devices.
  • Provides end user training on new hardware and software to enhance the user's knowledge and capabilities.
  • Reads computer hardware and software product literature and specifications, evaluates utilities, and assists users in testing new hardware and software before deploying.
  • Prepares technical reports and other technical documentation.
  • May drive a vehicle to remote locations to deliver, pickup, install and/or troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Performs other related duties as required by management.
