$13.38-$21.25 Hourly / $2,319.20-$3,683.33 Monthly / $27,830.40-$44,200.00 Yearly


Performs duties providing advice and guidance to the public on home horticulture.


Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Two years of experience working in a greenhouse, nursery or other horticulture work or enterprise.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

  • Working knowledge of growing flowers, fruits, vegetables, and shrubs.
  • Working knowledge of plant identification, problems and insects.
  • Some knowledge of the functions, services, procedures and regulations of the unit or department to which assigned.
  • Some knowledge of the laws and regulations governing insecticide use.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize information into a logical presentation format.

  • Provides information by telephone or in office visits to clients on matters of home horticulture.
  • Trains, schedules and supervises volunteers in programs such as the Master Gardener Program.
  • Copies, compiles and distributes information to clients.
  • Prepares educational material for presentation to the public via newspaper, pamphlets or video.
  • Makes home site visits on job related matters.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
