Network Administrator (#NTWKADGENS) GENS

Installs, configures, and supports complex enterprise level hardware and software platforms associated with enterprise routing and switching environments. This may include private networking (VPN), enterprise firewalls, Voice over IP (VoIP) connectivity, and 802.11x wireless networking. Provides network account access services, escalates technical support, conducts technology research, and manages assigned technology projects.


A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an information technology field; and


Two years of experience providing enterprise routing and switching, and/or virtual private networking (VPN), and/or enterprise firewalls, Voice over IP (VoIP) connectivity or 802.11x wireless networking support and implementation, monitoring and maintenance of complex and diverse information systems infrastructure hardware and software.

  • Knowledge of industry standards, characteristics, and features associated with network routing protocols, and/or switching methodologies, and/or firewall concepts, and/or Virtual Private Networking (VPN) connectivity, and/or Voice over IP solutions, and/or 802.11x wireless connectivity.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and characteristics of data network infrastructure and connectivity, including, but not limited to, TCP/IP fundamentals, VPN connectivity, VoIP signaling, firewall concepts, and wireless standards.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring and quality technologies including SNMP, NetFlow, SYSLOG, and MOS scores.
  • Knowledge of network analysis tools including protocol and packet analyzers, protocol capture, and network path analysis.
  • Knowledge of project methodology to manage routine technical projects and the ability to develop, review and edit technical project documentation as well as other technical reports & documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues associated with enterprise routing and switching, and/or virtual private networking (VPN), and/or enterprise firewalls, and/or Voice over IP (VoIP) connectivity, and/or 802.11x wireless networking technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and provide superior customer service to end-users and effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) to end-users.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work assignments.
  • Ability to lift end-user hardware up to 30 pounds.


  • Performs installation, setup, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and remedial maintenance for enterprise routing and switching environments, and/or virtual private networking (VPN), and/or enterprise firewalls, and/or Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure/connectivity, and/or 802.11x wireless networking & monitoring systems.
  • Manages routine technical projects and develops, review, and edits technical project documentation as well as other technical reports/documentation.
  • Provides end user training on new hardware and software to enhance the user's knowledge and capabilities.
  • Stays current on networking, firewall, VPN, VoIP, and wireless hardware and software product literature and specifications, evaluates utilities, and assists in testing new hardware and software before implementation.
  • May drive a vehicle to remote locations to deliver, pickup, install and/or troubleshoot equipment problems.
