JOB OVERVIEW

This position serves as the manager for the Analytics Section within the Business Operations Division of the Public Works Department, and is responsible for the day to day coordination of data management and reporting, programming and process improvement of Public Works Computerized Maintenance & Management System (CMMS).

This position also requires considerable contact with County officials, consultants, other agency representatives, and other internal and external contacts, and requires excellent communication, strong verbal, listening and written communications skills.

This classification performs management duties related to data planning, Computerized Maintenance Management System programming and process improvement, and oversees a staff of Solution Analysts and process improvement staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field; AND

Eight years of data analytical experience including some experience at a supervisory level. AND

Possession of a valid Driver's license or Commercial Driver's License.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Office applications for data manipulation and project management, and specialty software (i.e. Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition) as it applies to performance measurement and management.

Skill in inductive thinking and a high degree of analytical ability. 

Ability to research and assimilate data from various detailed record sources for the development of analyses and reports.

Ability to analyze trends from detailed records and factual materials.

Ability to exercise considerable initiative, foster collaboration and teamwork, and demonstrate creativity and innovation.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Plans and organizes data systems management functions in support of the organizational mission utilizing functional literacy combined with technical expertise.

Determines requirements for data systems activities to facilitate analysis, reports, forecasts, estimates, computations, records maintenance, and operational needs of the department. 

Identifies requirements, determines appropriate courses of action, and organizes data to prepare various reports in support of existing or proposed policies.

Identifies business processes that impact system operations and develop effective solutions,including recommendation and implementation of new and revised procedures and policies.

Identify, recommend, develop, and implement end user training programs to increase computer literacy and self-sufficiency in CMMS.

Supervises subordinate employees as directed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires sitting for extended periods of time in a cubicle setting in a climate-controlled office, occasionally lifting of up to 20 pounds, including squatting to pick up items, and bending over.  Position may be required to operate a vehicle to report other facilities to meet business needs.
