JOB OVERVIEW

Performs or supervises masonry duties such as laying brick, cement blocks, and ceramic tile; and installing, maintaining and repairing concrete surfaces, walls, curbs and gutters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate; and

Three years of experience as a mason.

Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

Possession of a valid Driver License.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Constructs, installs, alters, maintains and repairs concrete retaining walls, fireplaces, curbs, benches, gutters and stepping stones.
  • Supervises the work of semiskilled and skilled staff by scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work; providing training and counseling; and evaluating performance.
  • Pours concrete into various molds and determines when it is ready for further work.
  • Lays building materials such as brick, structural tile and cinder blocks.
  • Makes necessary drawings or sketches for the construction of fireplaces, retaining walls, curbs, gutters, benches and stepping stones.
  • Drives to and from work sites.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
