JOB OVERVIEW

Performs highly independent administrative and support duties of complex office functions associated with the operation of a Legal Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree; and
Two years of secretarial or administrative experience with at least one year spent in a legal setting.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Assists and advises Attorneys on matters relating to the formulation and implementation of broad policies and program objectives.
  • Implements and directs designated administrative and support office functions.
  • Tracks legislative bills to ensure timely administrative response.
  • Prepares legal pleadings and correspondence as directed.
  • Functions in a protem capacity performing all duties as delegated.
  • Serves on internal administrative and policy bodies as a representative of the department head.
  • Investigates and defines problems, conducts research and formulates and proposes methods of resolution.
  • Monitors, supervises, and coordinates administrative services and assists in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • May be required to be cross-trained in the performance of basic legal assistance and/or legal research under the supervision of an attorney.
  • May supervise Legal Secretaries.
  • Performs business related activities and functions regarding legal office administrative practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
