Inspector/Spray Equip Operator (#INSPEOAFSH) AFSH
$12.72-$20.19 Hourly / $2,204.80-$3,499.60 Monthly / $26,457.60-$41,995.20 Yearly


Performs routine field inspection and spraying duties in the control of undesirable arthropods and noxious weeds


Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
One year of experience providing pest control services using a herbicide or insecticide; and
Possession of a valid Driver License.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

  • Working knowledge of mosquito breeding habitats and adult and larvae specimen identification.
  • Working knowledge of control and extermination methods, materials, and equipment. Working knowledge of larvicidal and adulticiding equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Units of Measurement (i.e. liquids, solids and acreage).
  • Skill in the operation, calibration, and maintenance of spray equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to prepare written activity reports.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read maps.

  • Conducts inspections of properties to determine mosquito breeding areas and identify types of larvae.
  • Notifies owners or occupants of survey findings.
  • Operates vehicle and mounted spray equipment and applies larvicidal and adulticidal preparations to mosquito breeding areas.
  • Mixes insecticides and herbicides to apply on mosquito and weed infested areas.
  • Loads pesticides into the spray tank.
  • Reports large or unusual mosquito breeding areas requiring special larvicidal applications from helicopters or large spray trucks.
  • Performs other related duties as required.



Possession of a current State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Public Applicator License in Aquatic Pest Control and a current State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Public Health Pest Control Certification within the probationary period.
