JOB OVERVIEW

Performs duties related to the operation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of the tenth grade; and
Two or more years experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.

Or
Successful completion of a refrigeration and air conditioning program from a Vocational/Technical school; and
One or more years of experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.

  • Working knowledge of the operation of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Inspects heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Troubleshoots HVAC systems to determine cause of malfunctions.
  • Cleans, adjusts, and repairs equipment in a preventive maintenance program.
  • Keeps daily records and logs on operating conditions and repairs to mechanical equipment.
  • Schedules preventive maintenance for all equipment.
  • Checks air handler units to ensure most efficient operation.
  • Monitors construction on new HVAC systems to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
  • Oversees the work of subordinate personnel.
  • Requisitions material and equipment for mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Lights the pilot light and cleans the burners on the gas fired boilers.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
