JOB OVERVIEW

Performs engineering support and drafting duties assisting in a variety of office and field activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of basic drafting and mapping techniques.
  • Some knowledge of high school level mathematics.
  • Some knowledge of engineering support duties involving surveying methods and devices.
  • Skill in the use of basic engineering drafting, mapping, blueprinting and associated instruments.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Assists in performing the following duties:

  • Sets up tripods, level rods, plumb bobs and similar equipment used to measure angles, distances and elevations.
  • Collects field survey data to use in drawings, firsthand or from other departments.
  • Draws maps, plans, sketches and other graphic material showing existing field conditions, right-of-ways, easements, roads and intersections.
  • Receives, sorts, compiles, and files plans, drawings, maps, and specifications.
  • Makes blue line copies and colored maps.
  • Reviews legal descriptions and maps to identify parcels.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
