Budget Services Coordinator (#BDSVCDCBDS) CBDS

Performs managerial and technical work coordinating a major subdivision of a county wide budget function.


A Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration; and
Six years of experience in accounting, budget or fiscal analyst, economic or internal auditor; including
Two years must have been in a supervisory capacity.

  • Extensive knowledge of generally accepted governmental accounting and budget principles and practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of budgetary procedures and controls to include capital expenditures.
  • Extensive knowledge of funding sources and organizational and county budget processes.
  • Considerable knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and develop logical conclusions.
  • Ability to use a computer and related software.

  • Directs the activities of a capital projects or budget unit, including the administrative and technical direction and supervision of a staff of professional and support personnel.
  • Evaluates complex budget proposals and requests and prepares various reports, narratives and recapitulations associated with funding allocations.
  • Analyzes funding requests and prepares recommendations pertaining to the fiscal requirements of operating agencies and departments.
  • Ascertains, through coordination with senior staff and department directors, capital requirements and fiscal resources.
  • Monitors the conduct of the Capital Improvement Program and compliance with stated project goals; devises strategies to facilitate progress.
  • Provides specialized assistance to senior management on a wide range of topical issues concerning budget matters.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
