JOB OVERVIEW

Performs managerial/administrative duties with responsibility for planning, budgeting, coordinating and controlling personnel, materials and physical resources to achieve operations and organizational objectives, this position is responsible for the management of 40 sport complexes and 60 youth sport organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related field; AND
  • 5 years of experience directly related to Parks and Recreation; 2 of which must have been in a management capacity;

            OR

  • An equivalent combination of education (not less than possession of a high school diploma/GED, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below; AND
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Limited physical effort; may include travel, meeting with internal staff as well as external potential partners, stakeholders, some early morning/late night hours required, lifting no more than twenty pounds.  Normal office situation for seeing and hearing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, develops, administers and managers operations of a comprehensive athletics section, through subordinate managers in the Athletic Services section.
  • Formulates and establishes administration policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure operations efficiency and effective administration of assigned section.
  • Compiles, computes, reports and monitors various performance measures and facility usage statistics for programs and operations within the section.
  • Recommends plans and assists in the development of comprehensive budget plan to meet current and projected needs of assigned section.
  • Manages annual budget and performs cost and productivity analysis to ensure tight fiscal control through realistic.
  • Evaluates and participates in the development of short and long-range goals and objectives, supports strategic plans, and promotes the direction of section and department.
  • Oversees, recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of staff, volunteers and instructors by providing quality leadership. Promotes outstanding customer service for all employees.
  • Analyzes data to determine program/personnel effectiveness and implements programs/personnel adjustments; reviews and acts on management, administrative and operations problems; ensures compliance with program requirements.
  • Leads and participates in planning functions for Department includng planning and design teams, focus groups, public meetings and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
