JOB OVERVIEW

Performs clerical-accounting work in reviewing, processing, and maintenance of basic accounting or fiscal records. The work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are subject to instructions and established work routines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

An Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance; and
One year of experience in bookkeeping or financial record keeping.

Or
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS

A passing score on multiple-choice test number 86.

A passing score on a data entry test at 100 gross keystrokes per minute with 90% accuracy.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, procedures, methods, and theory.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and policies governing assigned functional accounting area.
  • Ability to make and verify mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply job-related rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prepare basic reports.
  • Ability to review and monitor the work of support staff.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database and related software applications.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Analyzes accounting and fiscal data.
  • Posts basic transactions to proper accounts.
  • Compiles and prepares basic fiscal reports and statements.
  • Reconciles and balances financial statements and accounting records.
  • Receives funds, prepares deposits, and reconciles bank statements.
  • Performs related work as required.
