- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate;
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above; AND
- Possession of a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Certification; AND
Possession of a valid Driver’s License.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below.
- Performs indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
- Assist in the implementation of recreational programs and coordination of social events.
- Assist with the programming and planning of adaptive recreational programs for special needs participants at a designated site.
- Teaches fair play, sportsmanship and maintains and enforces discipline and all established policies and procedures.
- Coaches and officiates team sports.
- Checks for safety and preventive maintenance of grounds and facilities.
- Prepares and maintains recreational programs records and reports.
- Assist clients of varied ages with personal care needs.
- Administers CPR and First Aid as needed.
- Issues recreational equipment and supplies.
- May be required to work non-standard duty hours.
- Performs other related duties as required.
FOR EQUINE ACTIVITIES ONLY
- Daily handling and care of horses to include maintaining a neat stable area; cleaning stalls and paddocks; cleaning tack/equipment; safely handling, haltering and leading horses; and preparing horses for lessons .
- Occasional horseback riding as appropriate for training and exercise of the animals.
- Knowledge of general office policies, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of planning and conducting recreational programs and adaptive recreational programs.
- Knowledge of proper English usage, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and grammar; and occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the recreation field.
- Ability to answer questions and resolve problem situations or refer to appropriate office.
- Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to participate effectively in the formulation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to plan, organize and oversee the work of others.
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task.
- Ability to use a computer and related software.
- Skill in the use of various office equipment.
FOR EQUINE ACTIVITIES
- Intermediate riding skills, considerable knowledge of horse management, and considerable knowledge in equine behavioral issues/management.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques of equine therapy areas.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR CHILD CARE PERSONNEL
- Employees must complete the State mandated 40 hour Introductory Child Care Training. The training must begin within 90 days of employment and complete the training within 12 months from the date training begins. Child care personnel must pass competency exams for the 40 hours of training to demonstrate their competency.
- Employees must also complete a minimum of 10 hours of Continuing Education Unit (CEU) of in-service training during the state’s fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending June 30

- Employee Assistance Program: This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.
- Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
- Holidays: Employees receive up to twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
