Finance Technician I - PT

Responsibilities

Performs accounting and bookkeeping related duties in the establishment and maintenance of industrial, governmental, and understands and complies with City Charter, various ordinances and rules and regulations about the purchase of goods and services, collection of revenues, payment of liabilities, and reporting financial transactions of the City of Dayton and Finance budget activities. Greets the public and provides appropriate transactions, solves problems, and provides information to ensure customer satisfaction. complaint resolution and information regarding water services and cash handling. Prepares vouchers for payment from approved invoices. Performs accurate mathematical computations related to Finance Budget.

Minimum Qualifications

Education 
Must have completed 2 years of college. 

Education must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region. 

Experience 
Must have one year of accounting or bookkeeping experience AND 2 years of experience in a communications or customer service area.

General Requirements

Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Background Check
A background investigation is required prior to employment. All candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including current city employees seeking transfer, promotion, demotion, etc. into a classified position. 

Drug and Nicotine Testing 
Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current City employees.
