Nature of Work

Performs tasks of a physically demanding nature; may be called upon to work during periods of inclement weather. Responsibilities may include sweeping, cleaning and repairing streets, maintaining parks, digging and backfilling trenches, and assisting trades workers.

Minimum Education

Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.).

Minimum Experience

Must have one year of applicable experience in general laboring work.

Promotional Qualifications

Must be a full-time permanent or part-time permanent employee in pay grade 111 (Wage) or below, pay grade 21 (Clerical) or below, or equivalent, and been employed for 6 consecutive months by the City of Dayton in a classified Civil Service position. Identical scores will be broken by (1) seniority and (2) random selection method.

Notes

Applicants who meet the requirements stated above and file an application by the deadline date will be placed on a promotional eligible list and ranked in accordance with credits earned for efficiency ratings and seniority earned as a full-time permanent or part-time permanent employee.

Police background investigation will be required. Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a drug screen. Applicants are responsible for providing all necessary employment dates, experience, training, or any other requirements as stated in the Exam Announcement, in order for their application to be considered for certification and admittance to the examination process.
