Wastewater Treatment Laboratory Supervisor

Responsibilities

Supervision of all laboratory personnel, functions, activities and analytical work, to include the self-performance as a working supervisor.  The incumbent must maintain a high degree of proficiency in qualitative and quantitative chemical and biological analyses and keep abreast of continually changing technology and requirements of the regulatory agencies.  Compiles extensive lab records and is responsible for accurate preparation and transmittal of the Ohio EPA monthly operating report and the Division of Wastewater Treatment monthly operating report.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or science related discipline.  Must have 5 years of hands on experience in a wastewater treatment analytical chemistry laboratory with at least one (1) year with metals analysis.  Must have 6 months of experience using personal computers with integrated systems and networking.  Must have a Wastewater Laboratory Analyst II Certification at time of appointment.  Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission or equivalent region.

License Requirements

Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Special Requirements

Must obtain a Wastewater Laboratory Analyst III Certification within 2 years of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.  Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
