Introduction

Responsibilities

This is manual work in the performance of unskilled and limited skilled tasks of a physically demanding nature. The current vacancies for this position are located at the Convention Center.

As a member of the Convention Center staff, the incumbent assists in the set-up and tear-down of tables, seating, portable risers and related equipment utilized in meeting rooms and exhibit areas. Repairs tools and equipment used for event set-up; delivers and picks-up needed supplies and equipment; operates forklifts, motorized sweepers, high lifts, power-driven snow removal and other miscellaneous equipment. Additionally, the incumbent also mops, scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors and furniture, chrome and other surfaces. Cleans lavatories and replaces supplies; disposes of trash.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum Experience

Six months experience in general laboring work.

License Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain as a condition of employment.

Notes

Appointment to positions in this classification will require applicants to pass a police background investigation.

Final permanent appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, including drug screen, and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity required by the Immigration and Nationality Act.
