Nature and Scope

 This position manages FOIA and subpoena requests for the Delaware State Police.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Tracks and manages FOIA and subpoena requests to ensure accurate and timely responses.

 

2. Assists in developing procedures for disseminating information and documents.

 

3. Coordinates with DSHS’ FOIA Coordinator, Division’s Deputy Attorney General and personnel to ensure subpoenas are fulfilled based on state and federal law and statutes. 

 

4.  Conducts case law research concerning precedents and past court decisions.  Reviews state and federal codes, laws, regulations,  policies and procedures and ensures compliance of legal actions and processes. 

 

5.    Conducts phone calls, meetings, and responds to emails.  Communicates with other state and federal agencies and requestors.   

 

6. Performs administrative functions such as correspondence, letters and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

1.     Six months experience in  gathering, organizing, formatting, translating, or interpreting information into forms more easily understood by the media or public, and disseminating the information.

2.    Knowledge of developing policies, procedures or programs for dissemination of information to the public or media groups.

3.   Six months experience of communicating with the public both verbally and in written form. 

Conditions of Employment

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
