Summary Statement

Seeking candidate with excellent customer service and creative problem-solving skills to work with state, national, and international guests who utilize the Buena Vista Conference Center for daytime meetings and events with occasional evening and weekend hours.  Duties include physical meeting setup and break down, computer and projector setup, beverage and food service setup, assistance with catered meal setup and clean up and facility cleaning.  This position supports daily operations with meeting scheduled and inventory of supplies for cleaning and beverage service products.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.   • Sets table for dinner parties, receptions and lunches. Serves food and beverages; greets and receives guests upon arrival to events; cleans tables after functions; washes, dries and returns dishes to storage area.
  • Washes and dries laundry; irons clothes and linens; mends clothes and linens; changes bed linens and turns back bed for guests.
  • Assists with meal preparation by performing such duties as preparing various salads, baking cookies, making coffee and preparing beverages.
  • Supports operations of facility by providing courier service, running errands, making urgent deliveries, and picking up orders on an as-needed basis.
  • Dusts and polishes silver and brass fixtures and wood furniture, usually antiques; vacuums, mops, scrubs and/or waxes floors and walls.
  • Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, kitchens and appliances and replenishes soap and paper products.
  • Orders paper and cleaning supplies and maintains inventory, loads and unloads food, paper products, and supplies as needed.
  • Assists at functions by taking coats and providing for the needs of guests.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Executive Housekeeper
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in planning and directing housekeeping operations.
  2. Six months experience in inventory control such as ordering, receiving, tracking, storing and handling inventory; disbursing materials, supplies and equipment.
  3. Six months experience in record keeping.
  4. Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.

Additional Posting Information

This is a 29.5 hour per week Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
