Natural Heritage Program Manager - Delaware State Parks

The Division’s mission is to provide Delaware’s residents and visitors with safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities and open spaces, responsible stewardship of the lands and the cultural and natural resources that we have been entrusted to protect and manage, and resource-based interpretive and educational services.  The Division is able to carry out the mission through comprehensive planning balancing resource management with recreational needs of the community.

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. • Maximizes achievement of program goals through integration of multiple programs.
   
• Provides staff support for Natural Areas Advisory Council and encourages citizen involvement through group and individual meetings and educational presentations.
   
• Develops funding resources through grants and donations.
   
• Ensures availability of natural heritage data, for environmental review and policymaking.
  

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Natural Heritage Program Manager
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Life or Physical Science or related field. 
2. Three years experience in environmental land use or preservation of natural habitats.
3. Three years experience in interpreting natural heritage or environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. 
4. Knowledge of grant writing.
