This
is an entry level Engineer position which entails the field inspection and
overnight of contract construction work to ensure Contractor compliance with
DelDOT plans and specifications. Duties also include measurement,
calculation, and recording of contract pay quantities, keeping accurate and
detailed records of work performed and quantities paid, and coordinating with
other sections as needed. Position requires night and/or weekend work,
depending on the current assignment and the Contractor’s work hours.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Engineer I (Department of Transportation Only)
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
1. Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher (or have an anticipated graduation date within 12 months) in one or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below OR official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) in one or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below.
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
1. The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) recognizes its Engineers are a highly valued resource and play a critical role in ensuring the State’s infrastructure is safe, reliable, dependable, and sustainable. For that reason we are now providing monetary recruitment incentives to new DelDOT Engineers in accordance to our Recruitment Program Policy and Procedures.
The program provides recruitment incentives as follows:

Incentives are paid three months from the initial date of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DelDOT in the Engineer I-IV series. Must be a new hire to the State of Delaware or new to the Engineer classification series within the State of Delaware
