Summary Statement

The incumbent will work as part of an interdisciplinary team in the Eligibility & Enrollment Unit (EEU) serving individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, including those with co-occurring disorders. The primary job duties will be to place individuals experiencing a psychiatric emergency in a psychiatric facility.  The incumbent will be conducting daily utilization reviews (UR) of DSAMH clients residing in psychiatric facilities to ensure appropriate services are being provided.

  • Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
     
  • Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
     
  • Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs.
     
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
     
  • Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms. 
     
  • Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities. 

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Registered Nurse III
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. At least two years experience as a Registered Nurse in Psychiatric Nursing OR a Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse in Psychiatric Nursing OR a Masters degree or higher in Nursing.
  2. Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license.

Conditions of Hire

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization).  The candidate selected for this position shall be asked to join and pay dues to the labor organization or may, decline joining the labor organization and not pay dues or a fee.  The labor organization has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other work related purposes.
