Summary Statement

Stockley Center provides small resident/staff ratios for more individualized care for our residents. Small ratios allow meaningful time spent with residents through active treatment focusing on making every day a great day. This position, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides assistance with activities of daily living to intermediate care residents with intellectual disabilities. Duties: assist with feeding, toileting and ambulation, monitor and record resident vitals, conduct rounds to ensure the safety and well-being of residents, plan implementation and other related duties.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.  Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.

  • Attends required classes including/not restricted to facility policies/procedures, nursing/therapeutic support methods, safety/security.
     
  • Receives hands-on training, observing/assisting professional and higher level non-professional nursing/therapeutic staff.
     
  • Monitors/records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, nutritional intake/output. Alerts professional staff to significant irregularities.
     
  • Implements prescribed treatment plans involving reality orientation, sensory stimulation, range of motion exercise, and application of splints/braces. Provides oral/written description of individual's physical/behavioral change.
     
  • Observes individual activities providing oral/written report of unusual/hazardous behavior.
     
  • Observes/supervises individuals within facility surroundings ensuring appropriate  location/security.
     
  • Escorts/is responsible for individuals traveling to social/recreational activities and medical appointments on/off campus.
     
  • Participates on interdisciplinary care team providing information about the individual's overall physical condition, abilities, and behavioral characteristics.
     
  • Applies appropriate interventions to prevent or de-escalate inappropriate behaviors.
     
  • Assists individual with personal hygiene.
     
  • Maintains individual surroundings ensuring appropriate infection control/sanitary conditions, care/storage of linens and clothing.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Nursing Assistant
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of nursing procedures such as monitoring or recording temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and nutritional intake/output.
  3. Knowledge of narrative report writing.

Additional Posting Information

Due to a new Interim Federal Rule (IFR) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) the following mandate is effective Nov. 19, 2021, as a condition of employment, employees providing health care services and/or support services in covered facilities must show proof that they have received the first dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or the one-dose COVID-19 vaccine of a one-dose vaccine by December 6, 2021 or as of December 6, an employee may not provide any care, treatment, or other services until proof is provided. The IFR further requires that these employees (covered by the IFR) are required to be fully vaccinated and provide proof by January 4, 2022 or as of January 4, 2022, employees may not provide any care, treatment, or other services until proof is provided   The only exception to these requirements is for those employees granted medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which may require weekly COVID-19 testing. This will be in effect until further notice.  More information can be found .

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
