Summary Statement

The Data Administrator works with the FSF team supporting the daily operations of the system for the FSF team and the State’s end users.  This position also supports the reporting team within the Division of Accounting modifying reports based on criteria established by the team. The major responsibilities include creating, modifying, and testing queries; creating policies for Document Direct reports; posting extranet web updates and design modifications to the Division of Accounting web pages; assisting State organizations with data capturing; assisting with FOIA and other special requests.

Essential Functions

  • Analyzes, organizes and manages an effective data administration and management process for use by information systems statewide in the data dictionary and data modeling areas.
     
  • Coordinates and negotiates data definition and structure differences between agencies over shared data elements.
     
  • Creates data administration and management guidelines that support the policies established by the State Information Resource Management Plan.
     
  • Plans, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of staff; provides technical assistance to staff.
     
  • Reviews and approves agencies' requests for new or revised data models and designs to improve the management and usage of data statewide.
     
  • Coordinates data selection with user agencies to ensure integrated data models and designs which enable data to be shared.
     
  • Provides technical assistance to agencies in preparation of proposals and the evaluation of plans for data base designs and models.
     
  • Keeps current on new developments and techniques in data resource management and recommends improvements to data management processes and existing information systems.
     
  • Provides training to information systems staff and user agencies' management on data administration and management guidelines to promote shareable and integrated uses of data.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Data Administrator
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in data administration which includes the integration of application systems in a shared data environment; developing and administering plans, policies and procedures to promote management and sharing of data across enterprise information systems that incorporate business needs and implementing plans to meet those needs.
  2. Three years experience in data resource management which includes developing or maintaining data dictionary, data quality and integrity, data storage/warehousing, data mining techniques, database structure generation and design or data modeling.
  3. Six months experience in information technology project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on status of IT projects.
