Summary Statement

The responsibility of the Inventory Control Specialist is to provide IT inventory control in support of the DTI data centers and sites. Facilitate incoming deliveries of IT and data center support equipment, as well as outgoing shipments of return or decommissioned equipment, primarily from the William Penn dock. Responsible for packing and unpacking shipments. Perform rack and stack of new or decommissioned IT equipment, as needed. Responsible for ensuring adherence to DTI standards and procedures governing the data centers and IT assets.

  • Maintain inventory of IT assets and data center equipment in all DTI facilities, from receipt to disposal, utilizing the CMDB. Ensure all IT and data center assets are properly tagged prior to deployment within any DTI facility. 
  • Manage the disposal of IT equipment and media in a manner that protects non-public data from unauthorized disclosure. 
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of data center support supplies and cables.
  • Perform IT and fixed asset inventories for DTI facilities statewide, including the William Penn Building, Biggs Data Center, Carvel Data Center, TMC, off-site storage facilities, and any DTI facility assigned or acquired. Manage and track all DTI rental/loaner equipment
  • Responsible for interfacing with DTI warehouse users and Facilities Management (DFM) staff. Ensure interior and exterior premises are maintained and safety issues are communicated to DFM. 
  • Assist with furniture and fixtures provisioning, supply delivery, minor maintenance and repair, and other related tasks outside the scope of DFM or state vendor services. 
  • Manage procurement of non-IT supplies for DTI, as needed.
  • Ensure all DTI blocked vehicles are properly maintained by Fleet services.
  • Primary work location is the William Penn Building warehouse.

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.
  • Associates Degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing workflow application.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  • Possess a minimum of one (1) year training or professional experience in one or more of following: building operations, warehouse operations, data center facility operations, or similar.
  • Possess a minimum of one (1) training or professional experience in one or more of following: inventory management, asset management, accounting and procurement procedures, or similar.
  • Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience with shipping, receiving and warehouse operations, preferably with IT equipment in a data center environment.
  • Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience with asset inventory control and tracking.
  • Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Conditions of Hire
