Summary Statement

Incumbents in this class serve as lead workers for roadway signing projects.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees crews installing signs or pavement markings (tape or paint).
  • Prepares sites for sign installation.
  • Determines proper layouts for intersection markings.
  • Operates hand and power tools such as air hammers, pipe installers and pullers, saws, etc.
  • Submits daily reports to account for materials, man-hours and equipment used.
  • Maintains inventories of supplies.
  • Provides training for less experienced installers.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Traffic Sign Installer Specialist

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in operating a variety of hand and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting or HVAC.
  2. Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
  3. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16.  This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
