Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position preforms maintenance service at the Herman Holloway Campus and for State Service Centers in the Northern Region.

Essential Functions

  • Renovates equipment, builds partitions, furniture and structures to extend usage and/or meet specific needs.
     
  • Performs maintenance in one or more trade fields including plumbing, carpentry, painting and assists in complex or large-scale projects.
      
  • Inspects facilities, makes basic repairs to systems, structures and equipment and is engaged in preventative maintenance program.
     
  • Inspects, maintains and repairs HVAC operation, water supply, pumps, wells, sanitary systems, compressors, treatment and disposal plants.
     
  • May perform maintenance and preventative maintenance of vehicles and operate heavy equipment.
     
  • Maintains records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent information.
     
  • May perform highway lighting or drawbridge maintenance.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Physical Plant Maintenance/Trades Mechanic II
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Six months experience in operating and maintaining a variety of equipment, hand and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
  2. Six months experience in performing work in a variety of trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
  3. Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
  4. Knowledge of record keeping.
  5. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Additional Posting Information

Due to a new Interim Federal Rule (IFR) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) the following mandate is effective Nov. 19, 2021, as a condition of employment, employees providing health care services and/or support services in covered facilities must show proof that they have received the first dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or the one-dose COVID-19 vaccine of a one-dose vaccine by December 6, 2021; or as of December 6, an employee may not provide any care, treatment, or other services until proof is provided. The IFR further requires that these employees (covered by the IFR) are required to be fully vaccinated and provide proof by January 4, 2022; or as of January 4, 2022, employees may not provide any care, treatment, or other services until proof is provided. The only exception to these requirements is for those employees granted medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which may require weekly COVID-19 testing. Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization).  The candidate selected for this position shall be asked to join and pay dues to the labor organization or may, decline joining the labor organization and not pay dues or a fee.  The labor organization has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other work related purposes.
