About the Office
of the Attorney General
Delaware’s Attorney
General—the State’s chief law enforcement officer—has broad responsibility for
combating crime, upholding civil rights, safeguarding families, fighting fraud,
and protecting consumers in the First State.
To carry out this
mission, Attorney General Kathy Jennings is supported by teams of talented
attorneys and staff across the Criminal, Civil, Family, Fraud and Consumer
Protection, and Civil Rights and Public Trust Divisions. More than 500
dedicated professionals work together to serve all Delawareans with integrity
and passion.
Deputy Attorneys
General, supported by criminal special investigators, victim service
specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal
cases, enforce consumer protection laws, advise state agencies, ensure public
access to open government, protect vulnerable populations, and much more.
Because the WCCU works closely with, and relies upon, our investigative partners throughout the State, the successful candidate must have or be able to develop a good working relationship with other Deputy Attorneys General, investigative partners, support staff, and court personnel.
This is a challenging position that provides an opportunity to investigate and litigate a wide range of matters, including many large and complex frauds. The Deputy Attorney General should be able to work independently and meet deadlines. Admission to the Delaware Bar is required.
Candidates should have a record of solid academic achievement, relevant work experience, and good writing skills. They should have an understanding of all facets of the investigation and litigation of complex criminal matters. Candidates should also have substantial felony trial experience, significant experience handling document-intensive cases involving financial misconduct, and demonstrated ability to evaluate criminal cases, determine resolutions, and anticipate legal issues.
Familiarity with finance, tax, or accounting is helpful, but not a prerequisite. We seek an individual with a strong commitment to working in the public interest.
