Introduction

Bellevue State Park is home to several venues available for weddings, celebrations and gatherings of all types. Bellevue Hall provides elegant indoor settings for receptions and corporate functions, while the mansion's grounds and gardens are the perfect backdrop for an outdoor wedding.   The park was acquired by the State of Delaware in 1976.

Summary Statement

The position will provide and develop school and public programming in addition to coordinating special events and hayrides.  Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.  Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.

Essential Functions

  • May develop and lead in-person and/or virtual interpretive and recreational programs to participants of all ages in a variety of contexts, including but not limited to natural and cultural resources.  
  • May create and distribute interpretive publications around the park, on the park's social media pages, and in the park’s weekly newsletter.
  • May support staff in developing and leading larger programs, including but not limited to School Programs, Summer Camp, Summer Concerts, and Wagon Rides.  
  • Provides general customer service and park information to visitor’s in-person and on social media. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Bellevue State Park Interpreter

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Must be at least 20 years of age.
  2. Six months experience planning and delivering interpretive programs for adults and children.
  3. Six months experience coordinating and promoting special events or initiatives.
  4. Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation.
  5. Knowledge of various recreational activities such as hiking, mountain biking, boating, rock climbing or swimming.
  6. Knowledge of local plants, animals or history.
  7. Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
