Summary Statement

Principal responsibilities include the planning, requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging, system integration, and documenting of software components of complex, multi-tier government systems.

Responsible for developing software for new programs from provided technical specifications, modifications to existing programs, and system integration of off the shelf Products.  Participates in customer meeting to define requirements. Prepares detailed estimates for project time, to meet prescribed functionality, in order to obtain approval to proceed. Tests and debugs programs for the delivery of quality applications. Creates system and user documentation.  Monitors ongoing program and system performance. Generates ideas to improve system design and performance. Interact will all internal teams and customer to ensure successful implementation.  

The Associate Software Engineer must be a fast learner with excellent communication and problem solving skills, and able to work with minimal supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.  The Associate Software Engineer must be able to work well with a diverse group of team members to deliver software solutions on time, on budget and within specifications.

Selective Requirement

Thorough knowledge and 2 years’ experience using PPFA (Page Printing Formatting Aid) and OGL (Overlay Generation Language).

Preferred Qualification

Knowledge of a print and mail solution with 2D barcoding.

Job Requirements for Associate Software Engineer

  • Possession of an Associate’s Degree or higher in an IT discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Possess basic training in project management principles and practices.
  • Possess thorough knowledge and a minimum of 2 years’ experience using PPFA and OGL.
  • Possess experience in the development of Client Server and web applications with specific experience in the full lifecycle development of object oriented systems.
  • Possess education or work experience in development of client/server or web application development.
