Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position works under the close supervision of a technical superior and is responsible for assisting and/or instructing individuals in therapy activities and plans.  Duties include completing restorative plans for performing basic living skills, sensorimotor activities, and psychosocial activities. Implementing and assisting with therapy program plans and applies adaptive therapy equipment and devices. Other duties include preparing individuals for therapy treatments, observing, and recording individual's progress. The incumbent will also requisition supplies and materials and maintains work areas and equipment.

  • Assists and/or instructs individuals in performing prescribed therapy treatments to improve their ability to perform daily living activities.
     
  • Provides instruction in the use of therapeutic equipment.
     
  • Observes and records an individual's progress in performing therapy activities.
     
  • Participates in treatment team meetings to provide input in the development of an individual's treatment plan.
     
  • Maintains records, writes reports and requisitions supplies and materials.|
     
  • Ensures work area, equipment and materials are clean.
     
  • May plan and organize trips to encourage and increase an individuals living skills development.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Therapy Aide 
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of conducting individual or group activities.
  2. Knowledge of working with persons with disabilities.
  3. Knowledge of applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  4. Knowledge of data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staff or others.
  5. Knowledge of record keeping. 

Additional Posting Information

Conditions of Hire

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
