Summary Statement

Principal responsibilities include the planning, requirements, design, coding, testing, debugging, system integration, and documenting of software components of complex, multi-tier government systems.

Responsible for developing software for new programs from provided technical specifications, modifications to existing programs, and system integration of off the shelf Products. Participates in customer meeting to define requirements. Prepares detailed estimates for project time, to meet prescribed functionality, in order to obtain approval to proceed. Tests and debugs programs for the delivery of quality applications. Creates system and user documentation.  Monitors ongoing program and system performance. Generates ideas to improve system design and performance. Interact will all internal teams and customer to ensure successful implementation.

The ASSOCIATE SOFTWARE ENGINEER must be a fast learner with excellent communication and problem solving skills, and able to work with close supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.  The ASSOCIATE SOFTWARE ENGINEER must be able to work well with a diverse group of team members to deliver software solutions on time, on budget and within specifications

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

  • Possess recent experience with Enterprise-wide application such as PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) or PeopleSoft Financial Chain Management System (FSCM). 
  • Possess experience with PeopleTools, SQL, SQR, PeopleCode, and Application Engine.
  • Possess experience with nVision and XML Publisher (BI).
  • Possess experience with cloud applications.

  • Possess an associate degree in IT, related field OR equivalent work experience.
  • Possess professional certifications commensurate with Beginner technical capabilities.
  • Possess education or work experience in development of client/server or web application development.
  • Possess an understanding of web application security concepts and trends for developing secure web applications.
  • Possess knowledge of or experience in reporting applications like SQL Reporting Services.
