Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.

Summary Statement

The Criminal Division, Felony Trial Unit, in Kent County, seeks to fill the supervisory position of Deputy Attorney General Unit Head. 

This position is Internal/In-House only.  Applicants may only apply if they are current employees of the Department of Justice.


Essential Functions

This Deputy Attorney General will represent the State of Delaware, will handle a demanding criminal caseload, and will manage the DAG’s and other employees in the Felony Trial Unit.  The Unit Head is responsible for the supervision of Deputy Attorneys General and other employees in the Unit, including dealing with personnel issues and allocating work assignments.  The Unit Head will provide guidance to DAGs within the Unit to determine which cases should be prosecuted, which should plead out, which types of plea offers should be extended, and which cases should be resolved by a trial.  The Unit Head will carry a felony caseload, including serious felony cases such as homicides. 



Job Requirements

Strengths should include the ability to evaluate and try criminal cases, determine resolutions, and anticipate legal issues.  Must have or be able to develop a good working relationship with other Deputy Attorneys General, support staff and Court personnel.  Must have demonstrated ability to try cases in Superior Court, and thorough knowledge of relevant laws and court rules.  Membership in Delaware Bar required.
