Therapist III

The incumbent in this position will be responsible for providing Therapeutic therapy services to patients in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.  Work includes: administering treatment, preparing treatment plans based on evaluations, evaluating effectiveness of treatment.  The incumbent assists individuals in performance of activities, using supportive devices and providing feedback to families and treatment teams involved in the patient’s care.

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

1. Possession of a Delaware clinical license in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing or related field OR eligibility for a Delaware license, or a Delaware clinical certification such as Alcohol and Drug Counseling.

• Administers treatment, applying knowledge of applicable therapy discipline. 
   
• Plans and prepares written treatment plans based on evaluation of individual's data.
   
• Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatment to achieve maximum benefit.

   

• Instructs, motivates and assists individuals in performance of various activities and use of support devices.
    
• Instructs individuals, their families and other treatment staff in treatment procedures.
     
• Prepares records and reports on individual's progress.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Therapist III
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher.
2. At least two years experience providing professional therapy services.
3. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification or eligible for certification.
