Causal Seasonal Deputy Attorney General I-V (up to 29.75)

The Criminal Division seeks a Deputy Attorney General to serve as the Special Victims Unit in Sussex County. The Deputy Attorneys General in this Unit work closely with medical professionals, detectives, and child welfare professionals to investigate sexual assaults, child death, abuse and neglect cases; evaluate available evidence for charging; and prosecute crimes supported by the evidence.

Pay Grade A16 DAG III           Hourly Salary Range $56.95/min  $58.20/max

Pay Grade A20 DAG V            Hourly Salary Range $70.36/min  $75.54/max

The Deputy Attorney General will be required to decide what cases should be prosecuted, whether plea offers should be made on a case-by-case basis, and what cases should proceed to trial.  The Deputy Attorney General will then be required to try cases that are not otherwise resolved.

The Deputy Attorney General must possess the ability to evaluate criminal cases, determine resolutions, anticipate legal issues, and research accurately and effectively.  This candidate must be able to manage investigations, evaluate cases, determine resolutions, and anticipate legal issues with the ability to research accurately and effectively. In addition, the candidate must be able to develop a good working relationship with detectives, medical personnel, child welfare professionals, other Deputy Attorneys General, support staff and Court personnel.  Moreover, it is expected that this prosecutor must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Finally, the Deputy Attorney General must have the ability to learn and apply the relevant laws and court rules.  Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.

· This position is part of a job classification that is represented by an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization), as elected by employees in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapters 13 and 16. While this position is now covered under a bargaining unit, a collective bargaining agreement is currently under negotiation, and terms and conditions of employment may be subject to change upon its ratification.

This is a casual seasonal position that is non-pension-eligible and does not include health care or other benefits. This position is approved to work up to 29.75 hours per week and is paid on an hourly basis for hours worked.
