Summary Statement

The incumbent assists and instructs individuals in performing prescribed therapy treatments to improve their ability to perform daily living activities under direct supervision. Duties include: observing and recording an individual's participation in therapy activities; participating in treatment team meetings to provide input in the development of an individual's treatment plan; maintaining records; writing reports and requisitions for supplies and materials; ensuring work area, equipment and materials are clean; and planning and organizing trips to encourage living skills development.

  • Provides instruction in the use of therapeutic equipment.
     
  • Observes and records an individual's progress in performing therapy activities.
     
  • Participates in treatment team meetings to provide input in the development of an individual's treatment plan.
     
  • Maintains records, writes reports and requisitions supplies and materials.|
     
  • Ensures work area, equipment and materials are clean.
     
  • May plan and organize trips to encourage and increase an individuals living skills development.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Therapy Aide 
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of conducting individual or group activities.
  2. Knowledge of working with persons with disabilities.
  3. Knowledge of applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  4. Knowledge of data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staff or others.
  5. Knowledge of record keeping. 

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.    

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization).  The candidate selected for this position shall be asked to join and pay dues to the labor organization or may, decline joining the labor organization and not pay dues or a fee.  The labor organization has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other work related purposes.

Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.
