The Delaware Department of Agriculture is currently seeking to hire a Rabies Coordinator to work in the Poultry and Animal Health section. This position serves to manage quarantines associated with animal-on-animal rabies exposures. Responsibilities include educating constituents on Delaware’s rabies vaccination and quarantine laws; processing quarantine guidance documents to be sent to owners, animal shelters, and other agencies; and interacting regularly with the DHSS Office of Animal Welfare, DHSS Division of Public Health, general public, and veterinary medical and shelter staff. The Rabies Coordinator works closely with the State Veterinarians in enforcing Delaware’s rabies vaccination and quarantine laws by alerting them to concerning trends, cases, or inquiries observed or received.

All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
